Brandon Medical's Symposia wins National Innovation Prize

Brandon Medical, experts in medical equipment products for healthcare, won the Innovation Award at the Medilink UK National Technology Awards, held in Birmingham on 13 February 2008.

The event, held at the Medtec Conference, celebrated the pioneering achievements of Brandon's Symposia, an integrated digital media package for healthcare. Symposia's VAIPOR is a unique methodology that uses Internet Protocol to integrate and transfer video and audio over a hospital's existing communications network. This system revolutionises the way hospitals record and transmit all types of procedures and has a significant impact on clinical training and development.

Brandon Medical's latest installation of Symposia is at Leeds Oncology Hospital and integrates microscopy, video-conferencing, document visualisers, patient records and surgical video. The Oncology Hospital is also linked with the Leeds General Infirmary and St James's Hospital by VAIPOR IP.

Brandon was automatically short-listed for the Medilink UK awards after the company picked up the Overall winner and Innovation awards at the regional Medilink Y&H Innovation Day and Healthcare Business Awards 2007.

Mr Graeme Hall, Managing Director of Brandon Medical, said "It is fantastic to have our achievements in innovation recognised not only at a regional level but also in a national competition such as the Medilink UK awards. It's a great pleasure to see our investments in design and technology paying off in the form of brilliant new products."
