Hybrid Operating Theatres

Hybrid Operating Theatre Equipment Package

Open Architecture Hybrid Operating Theatre Integration

The Hybrid OT layout is clinically driven

The hybrid operating theatre is the expression of advances in modern surgery and has a wide range of clinical applications: neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, emergency care, orthopaedic trauma surgery, laparoscopic interventions, thoracic surgery, and endobronchial procedures.

To achieve this flexibility in an operating room a range of imaging techniques is employed: rotational angiography, functional imaging in the OR, 2D/3D registration, fluoroscopy and data acquisition, TAVI, overlay of 3D information on top of 2D fluoroscopy, imaging techniques with a CT or MRI.

The amount of equipment used in a hybrid operating theatre, either fixed or that is brought in depending on the procedure requires careful planning considerations. The operating theatre has dramatically changed: Minimally invasive surgery means that more equipment has to be present in the room, with complex audio-video solutions required, additional to Medical IT, UPS, gases, specialised carts, etc. Multiple hanging Monitors, medical video routers, endoscopy equipment, orthopaedic implant trays, etc have now to find their place on medical pendants shelves, without becoming a hindrance around the operating theatre and allow for large equipment such as C-Arm X-Ray Systems.

Brandon Medical offers a coordinated scheme of equipment and an open architecture approach which allows flexibility in terms of design, with the manufacturing of the equipment controlled by our R&D and Installation Engineer teams. We minimise risk in a hybrid theatre project through better coordination of multiple suppliers, with different professionals on different sites. Typically such complex project involves equipment from different suppliers.

Brandon Medical project team will consider the workflow, to reduce opportunities for collision between the equipment in the room during procedures.

We have expertise in how to integrate HMI to Endoscopic PACS and teaching facilities and how to achieve cost savings by increasing operating theatre throughput and reduce waiting times.
