iLite Optical Intelligence | Clarity. Control. Confidence.

A surgical light is first judged by what the surgeon can see. iLite is the optical foundation of the Quasar Qi platform, engineered to provide stable, high-quality illumination across the surgical field with strong depth, colour performance and visual comfort.

Qi on light control panel

Wide, uniform illumination

Quasar Qi uses redesigned optics and distributed LEDs to produce a broad, consistent field. Fat Beam technology maintains useful intensity across the beam rather than concentrating it only at the centre, supporting large illuminated areas and reducing the need to chase the light during a procedure.

Depth that supports workflow

Depth of illumination describes how effectively useful light is maintained as the surgical field extends away from the nominal focal plane. Across the Qi range, L1+L2 values range from 1,580 mm to 2,100 mm at 20% illuminance and from 790 mm to 1,100 mm at 60%, depending on model.

Strong depth can reduce the frequency of repositioning in deep fields, helping the team maintain continuity during the procedure.

Qi40 with RedBoost

Red Boost for adjustable red emphasis

Red Boost allows the red content of the surgical light to be increased independently of the selected colour temperature. The function is accessed through a dedicated control and is intended to let surgeons tailor the appearance of the field to their visual preference. The evidence supports careful wording: red-enhanced spectra can alter the salience and appearance of blood-rich or flesh-like targets and may help selected differentiation tasks, but should not be described as automatically improving colour fidelity or clinical outcomes.

Comfort Halo

Visual comfort and control

Comfort Halo softens the transition between the illuminated field and the surrounding area. Variable colour temperature lets teams choose warmer or cooler light according to preference and procedure. Endo mode allows the main light to dim to 5% of maximum intensity across the range for low-light procedures.

Surgeons working under lights with active shadow control

Shadow management and multi-light awareness

Distributed LEDs help maintain illumination when hands and instruments enter the beam. Qi60 adds user-configurable Active Shadow Management according to the current technical table. All five current Qi models include Overlapping Beam Warning / multi-light intensity awareness.

FAQs

iLite is the optical technology cluster used across the Quasar Qi family. It covers illumination quality, depth, Red Boost, visual comfort and related lighting functions.

No. The iSense models also use the iLite optical platform. iSense adds sensing and control capabilities; it does not replace the optical technology.

Red Boost increases red spectral content independently of colour temperature so the surgeon can tailor red emphasis to visual preference and the task.

Comfort Halo is a soft corona at the edge of the beam designed to reduce the harsh contrast between the bright surgical field and the surrounding area.

The current technical-data table specifies user-configurable Active Shadow Management on Qi60. Other supplied narrative materials conflict with this, so the model specification should be treated as authoritative.

Yes. The technical table specifies Endo mode at 5% of maximum intensity across all five current Qi models.
